Privacy Notice
Last updated 28 August 2026.
This notice explains what personal information Community Connect collects, why, how long it is kept, and the rights you have over it. We have tried to keep it plain. If anything is unclear, please get in touch.
Who we are
Community Connect is operated by Community Connect Life CIC, a community interest company registered in England and Wales (company number 17444818), growing out of the community project started by CommUNIty. For the information described below, Community Connect Life CIC is the data controller. It is built in the spirit of Harmony and is not published by, or affiliated with, The King’s Foundation. You can reach us about anything in this notice at [email protected].
Looking up a postcode
When you enter a postcode, we use it to fetch public information about that area from the sources listed on the About page. We do not store your postcode and we do not link it to you.
One thing to be aware of: the web address of an area page contains the postcode itself (for example /place/BH125HE). If you have accepted analytics cookies, that address, including the postcode, is sent to Google Analytics as the page you viewed. If you have not accepted analytics, it is not.
Adding an event, group or correction
If you submit something through the add a place or event form, we collect:
- Your name and email address, which we use only to review your submission and to contact you if something needs checking. These are not published and never shown on a public page.
- The information you enter for the public listing (such as the event details, location and any photograph). This may be published on the site once a moderator has reviewed it.
- A confirmation that you are authorised to submit it and that you have read this notice, recorded when you tick the boxes on the form.
When you send the form we also briefly note the time of submission to prevent spam and abuse. We do not build a profile of you.
Our lawful basis for handling submissions is our legitimate interest in running a moderated community noticeboard. If you include a photograph, you are confirming you have the right to share it; we record what you tell us about its rights so a moderator can weigh it before publishing.
How long we keep it
Published listings stay on the site while they remain relevant; dated one-off events are removed automatically the day after they happen. The contact details attached to a submission are kept only as long as needed to moderate and maintain the listing, and are removed when the listing is. Submissions that are rejected are kept briefly so the same thing is not re-reviewed, then cleared.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information and we do not share it for marketing. Published listing content is, by its nature, visible to everyone. Your name and email are seen only by the small team who moderate the site. The site runs on our own server; if you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics processes the page addresses you visit on our behalf.
Your rights
You have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to how we use it. To make any of these requests, or if you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please email us at [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
